Consent Information

Trust is not a title.
It’s something you build slowly, through care, presence, and consistency.
Every tie is a chance to earn it again.

Consent & Understanding for Zwielicht Studio Workshops and Private Training Sessions

At Zwielicht Studio, we are dedicated to creating a positive, respectful, and empowering environment for all participants in our Shibari workshops and private training sessions. Your understanding and enthusiastic consent are paramount. Please read the following carefully:

1. Your Responsibility for Disclosure

You are responsible for proactively and clearly communicating any physical or psychological limitations, pre-existing conditions, injuries, or personal triggers to your instructors before and during the session. This includes, but is not limited to, issues such as:

Circulatory problems

  • Numbness or tingling in limbs

  • Painful pressure points

  • Joint issues, muscle strains, or general physical discomfort

  • Any mental health considerations or emotional sensitivities that might impact your participation.

Your openness allows us to adapt techniques and ensure your well-being.

2. Ongoing Feedback and Communication

Throughout any rope session, whether as a rigger or a rope model, you agree to continuously provide clear and honest feedback regarding your physical and emotional state. This includes, but is not limited to, communicating:

  • Changes in circulation or feeling (e.g., "my hand is getting tingly")

  • Discomfort or pain (e.g., "that pressure point hurts")

  • Any feeling of nausea, dizziness, or lightheadedness

  • Any emotional discomfort or the need to pause or stop.

Remember, you have the right to use a safe word (e.g., "Red") at any time to immediately stop the session, or a warning word (e.g., "Yellow") to indicate discomfort and request adjustment. We commit to respecting and immediately acting upon these signals.

3. Necessary Physical Contact by Instructors

During the application of ties, positioning of bodies, correction of poses, or rectification of tying errors, it may be necessary for Zwielicht Studio instructors to physically touch the rope model. This contact is always professional and solely for instructional and safety purposes related to the rope work. By participating, you acknowledge and consent to this necessary physical contact. If you have specific boundaries regarding touch, please communicate them clearly beforehand.

4. Shared Responsibility for Your Experience

You acknowledge and affirm that while Zwielicht Studio instructors are responsible for:

  • The technical function and safety of the ties being taught or applied.

  • Providing clear instructions and guidance.

You, as the participant, retain the ultimate responsibility to monitor the effects of the ropes, the specific tie, and the session as a whole on your body and mind. You are responsible for communicating your needs and boundaries consistently and clearly throughout the entire session. Your active participation in this dialogue is crucial for a safe, positive, and enriching experience.

By participating in Zwielicht Studio workshops or private training sessions, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms outlined in this consent information.

Your well-being and empowered experience are our top priorities.

5. Communication and Handling of Misunderstandings

You acknowledge that human communication is complex and that, despite the best intentions of all parties, misunderstandings or miscommunications may occur. Both Zwielicht Studio instructors and participants commit to actively working toward clear, transparent, and successful dialogue.

However, you agree that:

  • Active Clarification: It is a mutual responsibility to seek clarification if an instruction, feedback, or boundary remains unclear.

  • Limitation of Liability: Misunderstandings that occur without intent or gross negligence, and any resulting discomfort or dissatisfaction, are excluded from liability.

By recognizing that communication is a shared, ongoing process, we aim to create a space where errors can be addressed constructively and safely.
